We are back in Queen Anne High School on Thursday 7-9pm and will continue our investigation of the Tibetan Wheel of Life. Here is a picture of our dramatic shrine last week incorporating the wheel.

This Thursday night (7th August) we will meet at the Dunfermline Learning Campus (community schools building) 7-9pm to start to explore the Tibetan Wheel of Life. The first of a new sequence of sangha (community) evenings. A good time to join us if you had been thinking of coming along. Triratna’s International Council has set a theme for 2026 across Triratna for the first time. This is Bhante Sangharakshita’s poem the Four Gifts. The gifts are a Lotus Flower – representing a method of personal development, a Golden Net representing the Buddhist vision of reality, a Shepherd’s Round dance representing the life and dynamics of a spiritual community, and a garden planted in the wilderness representing his vision of a new society.

Four Gifts

I come to you with four gifts.

The first gift is a lotus-flower.

Do you understand?

My second gift is a golden net.

Can you recognize it?

My third gift is a shepherds’ round-dance.

Do your feet know how to dance?

My fourth gift is a garden planted in a wilderness.

Could you work there?

I come to you with four gifts.

We have been examining each of the gifts in our sangha night sessions. One of our members C., made this beautiful drawing whilst reflecting on the poem. The lotus, golden net and the garden are visible and to paraphrase C the ‘Shepherd’s dance was in the movement of the pen.’

The family of one of our little, (but growing), group of practitioners, gifted these lovely vases and flowers for our shrine yesterday,(our open meditation sessions at the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline). It made the shrine extra special, more visually beautiful of course, but even more beautiful with the thought of our connections from and to the communities we live in.

For the next 2 Thursdays (9th and 16th) our Thursday night sessions (7-9pm) will move from Queen Anne High School to the Dunfermline Learning Campus. We are back to Queen Anne, after the School Holidays on Thursday 23rd April.

Our Saturday Open meditation sessions are at the Queen Margaret Hospital, Education Section as usual and run between 10:30 am-12:30pm.
